The Secure & Interoperable Surveillance and Health Information System is a collaboration between the Australia Indonesia Health Security Partnership (AIHSP), the Ministry of Health and Reconstra which aims to strengthen surveillance systems, including SKDR (Early Warning Alert and Response System/EWARS), hospital-based surveillance and community-based surveillance to share data and information.
In 2021, AIHSP, the Ministry of Health and Reconstra conducted a study of mapping the surveillance system and health information system (HIS) in 4 provinces (Bali, Central Java, Yogyakarta and South Sulawesi). The study found a large number of segmented HIS which affected the data quality and the workload of health workers.
All study informants want an interoperable and integrated health system that can link health data for surveillance and decision making.
